Amerine Construction was founded in 1977 on a simple standard: do the work right and stand behind it long after the job is done. From day one, Amerine operated as a family-owned underground utility contractor where reputation was earned in the field and carried forward from one project to the next.
The early projects weren’t big, but expectations were. Each job sharpened how the work was done and built trust with clients who felt comfortable calling Amerine again. Growth came naturally from doing solid work, not from chasing attention.

Founded from the Ground Up
Glen and Pat Amerine founded Amerine Construction in Great Bend, Kansas, launching the business from their home with a commitment to doing the work right from day one.
Amerine completed its first long-haul fiber project, installing a route from La Crosse to Hays, Kansas.
Amerine took on its first horizontal directional drilling project in Great Bend, Kansas, relocating AT&T cable along the flood dyke in partnership with Melfred Borzall.
The company expanded beyond the mainland with its first projects in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, shipping equipment, trucks, and materials by container to support work in St. Thomas, St. Croix, and Puerto Rico.
Glen Amerine served as President of the Power & Communication Contractors Association (PCCA), a reflection of both his leadership and Amerine’s respected place in the industry.
Craig Amerine stepped into the role of President of AUC, helping lead the company into its next chapter and supporting the transition of responsibilities from Glen & Pat to the second generation.
Amerine moved into its current headquarters, creating room for future expansion and adding needed space for mechanics, office staff, and day-to-day operations.
Glen and Pat retired, allowing the third generation of the Amerine family to move into ownership and senior leadership roles. It was an important milestone for a company that has remained family-owned for more than 40 years.
Craig Amerine became Chairman of the PCCA, continuing Amerine’s leadership within the industry as he began guiding the organization through the 2026-2027 term.
The goal isn’t to outgrow the company’s roots, but to strengthen them, and present Amerine as the capable, professional, forward-looking contractor it has quietly become.
